PVA technique

Not really advertising Elmer's glue here, but I will be talking about how this glue has more usage than just being an adhesive agent. Elmer's Glue is a PVA glue or white glue. Polyvinyl Acetate is the main component of the widely used glue in like wood glue, school glue, etc. Rather being just an adhesive, white glue will create that very good finish on your armors/weapons.

In props making, I usually use rubber/foam sheet since it's very easy to cut through but at the same time, it is not expensive.
Weapon as props and body armor as costumes are both made of rubber/foam sheets. Below are examples of the finished products of rubber sheets.

With the right paint and precise cutting accompanied of hard work and creativity can definitely give you a very good product.

Silver Spray Paint
Paint, rubber sheet and adhesive (grecco or 888) to put them all together but the white glue can give you a a different impact on your work.

See picture below:

The photos above were both taken on the same angle, lighting and definitely with the same camera setting. This two examples have both the same layers of spray paint (sprayed 5 times) but with just one look, you can see the difference between the two. The difference between these two is that, I used a glue for its priming.

How? I mix white glue with water. My ratio of it is usually 3:1, glue:water. Make sure you blend these two components well. After which, apply it on the rubber sheet with a paint brush to create a smooth and even end result. Referring to the picture above, I didn't use brush because I want to have that uneven look. After applying the mix, you let it dry first and then apply it again. Make sure you only do it with one stroke. Do this over again until you are satisfied with its smoothness. In my case, I usually apply 3 coatings.
Aside from giving it that shine, this technique also lessen your use for your spray paint. Without this application method, the rubber tends to absorb the paint more which ends up, you having to apply more paint.
