I was thinking about what my first official post would be. Then, I remembered the main culprit why I am in my current situation as of the moment. Anigumi Joukai is the main reason why I am very much happy with who I become.
Anigumi Joukai is an iloilo based guild. This guild is the first SEC registered group in Iloilo which focuses more on hobbies. The members are anime and manga enthusiasts, J-rock/K-pop fanatics, gamers, otakus, artists, craftsmen, props maker, photogprahers, and cosplayers. The guild highly promotes camaraderie and a venue for people who share the same ideals and passions.
History
It was founded on June 5, 2010. A group of friends sharing the same passion over cosplay decided to create a group where in people can freely discuss anything about their passion. Then on, the small group of friends became a large group and later on decided to make it official.
Etymology
The term Anigumi Joukai is coined after three words. Ani, from the "anime"; Gumi, a suffix in japanese which is use as "in associated with"; Joukai, synonymous to "Tentou" and "Tengoku" which means "heaven" or "haven". Literally, Anigumi Joukai means Anime Group Haven. Indeed, this guild has been a haven for otakus.
Events
The guild has a lot of minor events all throughout the year and three major events.
Cosplay Cafe
Not known to all, Anijou has been organizing cosplay cafes here and there. As to date, there were already four cosplay cafes organized. The first cosplay cafe was held in the "Chalet". (Chalet was the first headquarters of the guild for its first year.) The second and fourth cosplay cafe was at Brew Burgers. Both events were held on the same month, February 2012 and of 2013.
The third cosplay cafe event was at Book Latte on May 2012. The guild's cosplay cafe are themed ones. Random cosplay cafe, Maid Cafe, Literary and Fairy Tale cosplay cafe and Seifuku and Gakuran Cosplay cafe, respectively.
AI Expo
AI Expo is a convention designed for hobbyist. Anijou Iloilo Expo or commonly known as "AI Expo" [ay'ekspo] is also organized by the same people behind the guild. The core group of Anijou which is composed of the founders, original and active members are the responsible people who makes the event possible. AI Expo 2012 was the first convention, which focus on hobbies, anime, cosplay, etc, that was ever organized in Iloilo City. It was launched on May 14, 2012.
October Themed-Event
The october event or sometimes called the Anijou October Event is solely focused on the showcase of talents of the members of the guild. There are dancing, singing, parlor games and cosplay catwalk. This event always falls on the last saturday of October and is usually at SM City Iloilo. The October Themed Event is also the first major event of the "Anijins" (members of anijou) in 2010. The theme, then, was Naruto Vs Bleach. Last 2011, it was Gamehouse. On 2012, it focused on Heroes Vs. Villains.
For the past two years of existence in Ilonggo Society, Anigumi Joukai continues to be a strong guild. A lot of people and certain organization have been trying to badmouth the guild but it stood strong still.
