Gijinka 101

Cosplay has limitations only if you would put limit to it. Pokemons and Digimons are just two of the world's famous animes which have little cute monsters as their characters. Though, there are humans in the series but it's mostly  dominated with these cute critters. Some people may have wondered how to cosplay these characters.

Its GIJINKA!!!

Gijinka, not known to all, is a japanese term which means "humanoid", "personification", "anthropomorphic".  There goes gijinka cosplay. This form of cosplay is applicable to cosplaying monsters. Coming up with a humanize form of the fictional character and making it come to life through cosplaying are the two things one should accomplish for a gijinka cosplay. Personally being a cosplayer, I really like gijinka cosplay more than other form of cosplaying. For main reason, you have no limit in making your own character. In Gijinka cosplay, you have the freedom to design, or to modify,by any means, your costume as long as you keep the essence of the certain character.

Teddiursa Gijinka

There are many gijinka arts online which you can use for your patterned gijinka cosplay.

Let's have Teddiursa as an example.
If you can notice (on the picture below) the Teddiursa is a bear-like pokemon with a big crescent moon shape marks its forehead.

Now, for gijinka form (on the right), a brown colored dress, side buns for the hair as to represent the ears, and a crescent moon shaped clipped on the hair can definitely create that teddiursa-ish look. See how easy it is. You can always show your creative side with Gijinka Cosplay.

Teddiursa from Pokemon

Not only being free on showing your creative side with gijinka cosplay, its not everyday you see a wild pokemon in conventions. It can really put a big smile on someone to see their favorite critters come to a form of a human.

Let me personally share to you my awesome friend's gijinka cosplay.

Jherben "Bishie" Lagon is a dear friend of mine and currently the president of our guild. He's definitely full of creative juices, overflowing i'd daresay. He is an avid pokemon fan and definitely a grass type pokemon enthusiast. He chose Venusaur for his gijinka cosplay for our event last year, see here. On the left was his art which he made it into a reality on the right. See more of Jherben's cosplay in his deviantart account.
